Question of the day

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What totally mundane, harmless thing scared you the most as a child?

My answer:

I was taught that Jesus was watching my every move 24/7/365, so I grew up believing that I was always being watched. While sleeping. On the toilet. In the shower. Everywhere. All the time. I worried about it constantly, and the only way I coped was to convince myself that he was equivalent to a guardian angel who was assigned to keep me safe.

I've felt that way for some time, too, but regarding the dead. It's so frustrating. *sighs at my brains*

Was told the same thing about Santa Claus. And believed it - for years. Freaked me right the heck out (though only for a short time, maybe a few weeks, as we moved toward the Big Day each year).

i still worry about this. a lot. especially when i’m by myself and want to talk to myself out loud, but feel awkward talking to myself in front of Jesus... that sounds really dumb when i put it like that, but it bothers me.
